The G8 lorry loader crane course at MTK Skolen provides certified safety training for those who will operate a crane mounted on a lorry or lorry trailer. You can take the theory on its own, or complete the full programme with practical training and the practical test on our own lorry loader crane at Sem in Tønsberg.

The aim of the G8 lorry loader crane course is to give the operator the knowledge and practical skills needed for safe use of a lorry loader crane. The training is designed to prevent incidents and accidents and to give an understanding of the crane's design, stability, capacity, inspection and maintenance.
Who is the course for?
The course is suitable for drivers, transport workers, construction workers and others who will operate a lorry loader crane in their job. Both private individuals and companies can sign up.
Requirements and regulations
A crane with a capacity greater than 2 tonne-metres mounted on a lorry or lorry trailer is work equipment for which the operator must have documented safety training from a certified training provider (forskrift om utførelse av arbeid (Regulations concerning the performance of work) § 10-3). After passing the theory, practical training and practical test, a certificate of competence for G8 can be issued.
In addition, the employer must ensure equipment-specific training on the crane you will be using (§ 10-4).
How the course works
Theory: G8 including G11 lifting gear – NOK 8,900. The theory ends with an exam.
Theory and practical training: Practical training on MTK Skolen's own lorry loader crane at Sem in Tønsberg – NOK 15,500.
Simulator: Participants can use a simulator as part of the training.
Practical test: After the practical training you take the practical test with us.
Practical training can also be carried out at your own company under a written mentoring agreement (fadderavtale) with us. The mentor must hold a certificate of competence for G8 and have at least one year of documented experience with lorry loader cranes. The final practical test is taken at MTK Skolen.

Is G11 (lifting accessories) included?
Yes. The G8 theory includes G11 for slingers and signallers.
Do you train in a simulator?
Yes. We have a Tenstar simulator with a lorry loader crane module. You first practise safely in the simulator and then move on to the real crane truck.
Can the practical training be done at our own company?
Yes, with a written mentor agreement (fadderavtale) with us. The mentor must hold a G8 certificate and have at least one year of documented experience with lorry loader cranes. The final practical test is taken at MTK Skolen at Sem.
Does the certificate expire?
No. A certified certificate of competence for lorry loader cranes has no expiry date. Your employer must still give you training on the specific crane you will use.
